The Trial Field

This year, the May On-the-Border SDT (2006) will be held in Southern California at the Northcote Ranch (next door to Ron and Jennifer Ewer's home). The trial grounds are only a short drive from the villages of Morena and Campo, California. It is situated minutes from Interstate 8. It is a moderately wide uphill field of approximately 350 - 400 yard open run. There are several large outcroppings of boulders on the way up the field, creating challenging obstacles for dog and handler. Handlers are advised to arrive early and spend time walking the course in order to familiarizing themselves with the terrain.The sheep are traditionally brought in at least a week ahead of time in order to become acclimated to the field.
